Tax form 1099-r

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Original review updated Feb 10, 2026

I e-filed my taxes in the beginning of January, and the IRS wants me to fax my 1099-R in order to receive my refund. I have 10% voluntary taxes deducted from my Social Security check.

The IRS says that once they receive my 1099-R, it'll take about 4-6 weeks before I get my refund. They won't let me upload it on their upload website. In my notice, it says I can use the upload website. It doesn't accept my type of notice.I know when I do fax it, it'll probably get lost.

They say that this year they can't give me a receipt for receiving my fax, due to high volume. The Social Security Administration says that they have sent the 1099-R forms to the IRS. Now If the IRS would just run the batch of rejects against the 1099-R file they received from the Social Security Administration, this would solve a lot of those rejects.

How hard can that be. Rerun that batch of rejects against the Social Security File and that's less work for the people who have to check the faxes against the Social security administration file.

You’re crazy giving the government basically an interest-free loan throughout the year. You’d be better off setting up 10% auto-deposits to a savings account at your bank.

I hear what you're saying but I'm not strong enough to have access to the money, it wouldn't stay there long

when you file your taxes with the 1099 it asks for 2 boxes think its 5 and 9 ( not positive on both ) anyway one is for the amount you paid the other is for any withheld funds ( i.e the 10% you mentioned) that would be standard on the tax form

Thank you for the info but after I tried to upload it to the IRS upload website and it wouldn't accept it, this is the same thing that happened to me last year when I e-file my tax return I actually didn't get it until April. I filed before the social security administration sent the 1099-r form to the IRS so the IRS kicked out all returns that required a 1099-r and sent out a Batch Notification stating that I have to fax or mail it to them. Next year I will wait until the first week of February

Wage garnishment

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

The IRS is garnishing my wages and I had no idea that I even had a balance with no notice. No letters, just completely blindsided.

Customer service is not helpful; waiting hours for a representative to tell me how did I not know.

They tell you that you accrued penalties and interest, but they can't explain the numbers. Thank you, IRS; you're so not trustworthy to taxpayers and an injustice to working people.

Subject: Request for Assistance Due to Financial Hardship

Dear IRS Representative,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to explain my current financial hardship and to seek assistance regarding the remaining portion of my taxes owed, which I estimate to be around $1,800 to $2,200. This amount is due soon, and I am unable to pay it due to a series of unfortunate events that have significantly impacted my financial situation.

In April 2023, I was involved in an automobile accident. While I was not injured, the vehicle I was financing which had three payments remainingwas deemed a total loss by my insurance company. They provided me with $14,000 to purchase a new car, but I had to finance a small portion of the remaining cost.

Shortly after acquiring the vehicle, a used 2018 Chevy Camaro,(prior to second payment being made) I was involved in another accident when a car ran a red light and destroyed the vehicle. Again, I was fortunate not to be injured, but I faced an approximate loss of $8,000 due to the difference between the insurance payout and the cost of the car. I subsequently purchased another used 2018 Chevy Camaro, financing $16,000 after making a $10,000 down payment.

Unfortunately, my financial struggles deepened due to issues brought on by a wrong place at wrong time situation where I noticed a small leak in my oil about dime size in my driveway on July 4th of this year. On my way to work that following day I hit something in the freeway which caused a flat tire. I had it towed to a shop near my work instead of going to my regular mechanic which I had planned to do after work that day. However, this flat tire forced my hand since I was there and the vehicle needed at 75,000 mile maintenance and the small leak of oil. Oil, I requested the mechanic take a look at the car and go ahead and do the hug required routine service. The damage was caused when they misdiagnosed the oil leak, which they initially attributed to a faulty valve seal. They later changed their diagnosis to the PCV valves and replaced them instead. This decision led to the rerouting of the oil, causing it to leak into the engine rather than being properly managed. The result was black smoke emitting from the exhaust and significant damage to the engine. This led to another series of events to which I took my car to my mechanic who made $800 in. I won't say repairs but replacement of spark plugs and then a complete fuel system cleaning because there was something that was clogging the fuel system which was not present before the car was taken to the other mechanic. Then with the vehicle still showing signs of problem engine light on. I had the vehicle then towed to a dealership to look at it and who told me that it was the turbo. However 3 days later they said there's nothing wrong with my car. The code went away but this was not correct because the following day on my way to work it broke down again back and forth to the mechanics rental car and no one being able to correctly diagnose my car and telling me everything was okay. I continued to drive it as soon as showed signs of problems. I would pull over and have AAA tow it. I got general motors accidentally involved who were great but could really not do anything. No one could tell me what was wrong with it at first no one could fix it their mechanics. I trusted them even the dealership and they kept telling me to drive this car. It was fine and I told him no it wasn't. They would not listen to me anyways. It resulted in piston failure brought on by poor combustion. More than likely that was brought on by the redirection of the oil into my engine caused by the original mechanic who want the date that I took it in admitted they were short staff. They also had the mechanic working on my cargo home sick and it was 108 that day. I believe instead of doing the required repair to what they originally identified as being the problem. Due to the labor intensive work involved, they hid the oil problem and after my mechanic stated my oil was thick like something was clogging it. I believe they added some kind of additive so that the oil would not leak and I would not notice it and enough time would go by it would appear as though a different issue. However, that engine the 4-cylinder turbo runs very hot so the issues presented themselves sooner than a normal car which was almost immediate . Despite my attempts to address these issues with the mechanic, I received no compensation or help in resolving the situation. I did file claim with the company. I also filed a claim with the bar bureau of automotive repair which yielded no help due to the understandably inability to 100% say it was a direct caused to my problems. Being the car was used I was told it could be just coincidence. Which I suppose could be the case. I mean just minutes after leaving that shop with no problem with my vehicle other than a minor small oil leak. Nothing with performance. My car's performance went in the tank. They also put on the wrong two tires on my car and while explaining to the mechanic he number one got very defensive when all's I did was call when I got home minutes after picking up my car and said there's something wrong with the way it's driving. Could you please take a look at it to which he very defensively said we did not damage your car to which I replied. I didn't say you did but you did put on the wrong tires to which he replied. If you want lesser tires on your car then bring it back and we'll put lesser tires on your car but we didn't damage your car. Again. I said I didn't say you did the only car I have. I can't afford another one. Could you please just take a look at it? Sometimes not right with it. It was fine when I brought it there. At this point I'm at a loss and feeling defeated.

I cannot afford legal representation, as the costs would exceed the value of the repairs. The combination of these mechanical issues and the subsequent financial burden has left me in a precarious situation.

Additionally, I was involved in a hit-and-run incident while I was in the rental car I was driving as I waited the new engine to be installed and was hit by a driver who had no insurance and no valid driver's license. While I chased the individual down, I am now responsible for the costs associated with the rental car and my deductible, further adding to my financial strain. It feels unjust that I am held accountable for the actions of someone who disregarded the law.

Due to these circumstances, my savings have been completely depleted, and I currently have a negative balance of $586 in my account. I have also had to file for bankruptcy and struggle to meet my basic financial obligations. My plans for a normal retirement at 55, which would have been two years early at 53, have shifted, and I now face the prospect of working an additional four years, pushing my retirement age to 57.

I kindly request your understanding and assistance during this challenging time. If possible, I would appreciate any options available to me, such as a payment plan or consideration for hardship.

Thank you for your attention to my situation. I hope to hear from you soon.

They don't care no one cares the only way things are going to change people is if we do it none of them are anything they're all nothing without us they forget how they got there it's time we make them remember and everybody just stop you want unity and stand together and stop and make them change, Make them all change I'm tired of going to the grocery store and paying 80 to 100 bucks and being able to carry my purchases out in one hand. All we have to do is stop. Stand together, just stop make them change. Stop wasting our time trying to push our personal beliefs and opinions on others doesn't matter his right is wrong their opinions and personal beliefs and you're wasting your time when we could stand together and make a change for what benefits all of us cuz I'm sure all of us are in agreement we're paying too damn much

Never received my $1400 stimulus check

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

During President Trumps first term when Covid was hot and the Government issued three stimulus check, i received the first two checks on time. I never received the $1400 stimulus check.

After it didnt arrive, i began contacting the IRS and other Government entities only to be given the total run around. In 2023 i spoke with a live IRS Agent by phone and was told it was way too late to recover that stimulus check. So i gave up. Well, today i find out that it wasnt too late in 2023.

That stimulus check was still recoverable, but the deadline to file for itvwas yesterday. 04/15/2025. I TRULY believe the IRS Agent i spoke with in 2023 which said it was too late to recover said check INTENTIONALLY lied to me! So now 1 million Americans will finally receive their $1400 stimulus check.

Minus 1. ME! All this at a time when President is railing daily about how hes hoping to restore Americans confidence in the Federal Government. Also, President Trump/Congress/The IRS...

None of you are doing without a meal. None of you are currently homeless. My confidence in the Federal Government is anything but restored!

Its TOTALLY shattered. Thanks for nothing.

Why is the IRS still processing my refund.

I, John Byrd, e-filed my tax return on April 15th, 2024. The IRS has received my tax return on April 18th, 2024, and I never got my refund from the IRS.

They accepted my return, and the IRS is not processing my refund. It should be in my bank account now.
